A journey to remember! Departing from the port, we head to Ephesus, a majestic wonder nestled in the hills of the Aegean and one of the largest outdoor archaeological museums in the world. Founded by the ancient Greeks in 2000 BCE, it was dedicated to the goddess Artemis and housed one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis.
Ephesus was the wealthiest of the Ionian cities and later became the second largest city of the Roman Empire.
Explore the Odeon and the Prytaneion, stroll along the marble colonnades of Curetes Street to visit the Trajan’s Fountain, the Temple of Hadrian, the Baths of Scholastica, and the magnificent Houses of Koressus and villas.
Nearby stands the impressive, fully reconstructed Library of Celsus with its 12,000 scrolls and the upper Agora. Following the footsteps of St. Paul, we encounter the Grand Theatre of Ephesus, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation, capable of hosting up to 24,000 people.
